A Little About Me

“I think one of the best things we could do would be to help women/parents/families discover their own birth power, from within themselves. And to let them know it’s always been there, they just needed to tap into it.”

Fran Beard - Director & Doula

My name is Fran and I am a Dona trained birth doula and Lamaze certified childbirth educator. I have always loved birth work and started my journey as a midwife in the UK. I worked in the community educating and supporting women antenatally, postnatally and birthing at home. I also worked in a low risk birth centre and a high risk obstetric led unit. I truly believe this wide wealth of experience has rounded me to be the doula I am today.

I left the UK to travel the world and when I found Australia it truly felt like home. Discovering doula work reignited my passion for all things pregnancy and birth. Being a doula really guided me in understanding woman centred care and my love for supporting and nurturing women and their families through such a special time in their lives.

Having a baby of my own (and having my own doula) has given me even more tools to better support families not only through pregnancy and birth but through the fourth trimester. This sacred time is so important. I strive to nurture and support new mumma’s and help them navigate this new stage of life.

I believe wholeheartedly in choice, advocacy and support in all pregnancy and birth journeys.
